Hamas is following up updates linked to efforts to broker ceasefire understandings with the Israeli occupation and lift the devastating 14-year-long blockade on the Gaza Strip, confirmed Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh.
Haniyeh said that Hamas puts its faith in Egypt and Qatar’s endeavours to broker an agreement aimed to end the Israeli blockade.
He stressed that ‘the major obstacle hindering such efforts is the Israeli occupation’s obstinate refusal to meet the demands of the Palestine people of having the minimum requirements of a decent life.’
Ismael Haniyeh called on Nickolay Mladenov, Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, and the UN to fulfil their permanent responsibility of ending the suffocating blockade and the suffering of the Palestinian people in the besieged enclave.
