Palestine reports 537 coronavirus cases, three deaths

Palestine today recorded 537 new novel coronavirus cases and three fatalities in the last 24 hours.

The Health Ministry announced in a press release that 537 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus in the occupied territories.

Among the 537 new confirmed cases, 287 cases were recorded in Jerusalem district, 106 others in Hebron district, 27 others in Ramallah and al-Bireh district, five others in Tulkarem district, 11 others in Bethlehem district, another in Jenin district, 46 others in Nablus district, 44 others in Jericho district, and 10 others in Qalqiliya district.

The ministry statement added that three other Palestinians died of the virus and 235 others recovered from it in the last 24 hours.

Two of the latest three fatalities were identified as a 68-year-old woman from Beit Awwa town, west of Hebron, and a 54-year-old man from Hebron city, raising the COVID-19 death toll in Hebron district to 59.

The ministry added that 14 COVID-19 patients are still being treated at the intensive care units, including four who are still connected to ventilators.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 12,412.

Out of the 12,412 cases, 10,093 are recorded in the West Bank, 75 in the Gaza Strip and 2,319 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 3,394, including 674 in East Jerusalem, and the death toll reached 73, leaving a total of 8,710 active cases.
