Half-Palestinian supermodel Bella Hadid, sister of Gigi Hadid, has accused social media platform Instagram of bullying after taking down her story that stated how proud she was of her father’s Palestinian heritage.
Bella Hadid, 23, who is of Dutch and Palestinian descent, on Tuesday shared a photograph of her father’s long-expired American passport, which stated his birth place as Palestine, writing “My baba and his birthplace of Palestine.”
Shortly afterwards, she received a notification from Instagram to say that her content went against the community guidelines of Instagram.
She then challenged Instagram, asking “@Instagram exactly what part of me being proud of my father’s birth place of Palestine is “bullying, harassment, graphic or sexual nudity?”
She added: “Are we not allowed to be Palestinian on Instagram? This, to me, is bullying. You can’t erase history by silencing people. It doesn’t work like that.”
Her stories were shared by her supermodel sister Gigi Hadid, who also made it clear how proud she was of her Palestinian heritage.
