The Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry Thursday night announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths among Palestinians in the diaspora has risen to 2,103 and 146 respectively.
The ministry said in a statement that there were 2,103 confirmed novel coronavirus cases, 146 fatalities and 1,212 recovery cases among Palestinians in the diaspora.
Providing more details, the ministry said that a 63-year-old man a woman, in her 70s, died due to the novel coronavirus in the US, raising the total death toll among the Palestinian community since the pandemic outbreak to 63.
It confirmed that a Palestinian tested positive for the virus and another patient recovered, raising the total number of confirmed patients and recoveries among the Palestinian community to 880 and 363 respectively.
In Saudi Arabia, the ministry said that three Palestinians; two women, aged 78 and 62, and a 38-year-old man, died due to the virus, bringing the total death toll among the Palestinian community to 32.
It added that 14 other Palestinians contracted the virus in the Arab Gulf country, raising the total number of confirmed Palestinian patients to 74.
In Chili, eight Palestinians were diagnosed with the virus, raising the total confirmed cases among the Palestinian community to 27, including 18 cases who recovered. So far, one Palestinian fatality was recorded.
In Nigeria, the first COVID-19 case was recorded among the Palestinian community. The woman resides in Lagos city.
