The 12 new coronavirus cases confirmed yesterday in the West Bank were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
In addition, the papers said, eight corona cases have recovered.
The papers continued to highlight the pandemic worldwide and attempts by several countries to start gradual return to normal life despite the large number of infections and deaths around the globe.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said 39 diaspora Palestinians have died from the corona disease and over 800 were infected.
It focused its main front-page story on remarks by President Mahmoud Abbas congratulating the Christians who follow the Orthodox faith for the Easter holiday and saying that with faith humanity will defeat the pandemic.
Al-Quds said over 2 million people were infected worldwide and over 150,000 have died.
The paper also highlighted a report about the wealth in the Gulf states and had a breakdown of the wealth of the ventures in each state with the United Arab Emirates’ Mubadala Venture coming on top with almost $229 billion capital.
It said that on the Palestinian Prisoner Day, calls were made to pressure Israel to release the prisoners in light of the corona pandemic.
Al-Ayyam said the UN secretary general has instructed his envoy to the Palestinian territories to intervene with Israel regarding the Palestinian prisoners to make sure they are protected against the coronavirus.
It said the UN warned Israel against continuing its demolition of Palestinian structures in the occupied territories.
The three papers also reported on the clashes yesterday in Kukr Qaddoum village in the north of the West Bank between residents and Israeli soldiers that led to the suffocation of dozens from teargas fired by the soldiers.
They also reported on the Easter celebration for the Christian churches following the orthodox faith.
Al-Ayyam said the churches celebrated Good Friday yesterday at the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem with few religious figures due to the ban on gathering to stop the spread of the corona disease.
It said today, the churches will celebrate Holy Fire also with only few religious leaders.
Al-Quds had a report about Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem and quoted its director saying the hospital is facing a grave financial situation.
