Dozens of Palestinians on Tuesday staged a protest against Israel's decision to deduct the salaries of the families of Palestinian political prisoners and martyrs from the tax revenues transferred to the Palestinian Authority (PA).
The Palestinians protesting at the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ramallah raised banners calling for boycotting Israeli products and holding Israel accountable before international courts.
Head of the Palestinian Prisoner Society Qaddoura Fares said that the PA is called upon to take decisive measures and halt all relations with Israel.
"The PA government should refuse to receive incomplete funds, and the Palestinian people should take to the streets and voice their rejection," Fares added.
The Israeli government on Sunday decided to seize 502 million NIS ($138 million) from the tax funds transferred to the PA.
The withheld money equals the salaries paid by the Ramallah-based PA government to the families of martyrs and prisoners in 2018, according to the Israeli media.
Under the Paris Economic Protocol of 1994, Israel collects taxes on goods imported by the Palestinians and transfers them monthly to the PA government.
