Hundreds of Palestinians have demonstrated in Gaza City as protests continue against The Palestinian Authority (PA) decision to suspend their salaries as Abbas's arbitrary procedures against Gaza continue.
The Palestinian Authority (PA) has decided to stop paying salaries and social welfare to hundreds of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including many Fatah members, sources said.
Abbas and senior PA officials recently warned that they would impose severe sanctions on the Gaza Strip unless Hamas agreed to relinquish security and civilian control over the coastal enclave with his conditions.
The Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission in Gaza said that 420 detainees and ex-detainees were exposed to halting their salaries by the PA for no justified reason.
400 ex-detainees and 20 detainees in the Israeli jails also had their salaries suspended by the PA in Ramallah, the Commission added.
262 employees from the Ministry of Health in various health specialties also had their salaries cut by the PA without any given reason, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported.
71 specialized physicians, 59 nurses and other health professionals, 75 administrative and service workers, technicians, engineering and maintenance technicians, and 41 other professions were among the categories covered by the halt of salaries procedures, the Ministry added.
Gazans called upon the International Community and Human Rights organizations to immediately interfere to stop Abbas's sanctions against the enclave, local sources said.
