Israeli occupation forces shot dead on Tuesday evening Palestinian youth near Qalandiya Military Checkpoint in central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah.
The Palestinian youth was identified as Bahaa al-Hirbawi, 23, from Al-Eizariya Neighbourhood in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
Medical sources said that the Israeli occupation forces opened fire at the Palestinian youth at different parts of his body, leaving him bleeding for a while before he died.
Eyewitnesses said that the Palestinian youth did not do anything that caused any security suspicion in order to push the Israeli occupation forces to open fire at him.
However, the Israeli occupation claimed that the Palestinian youth attempted to stab an Israeli soldier before he was shot dead.
“In response to the immediate threat, forces fired towards the attacker and a hit was confirmed,” a spokesperson of the Israeli occupation army said.

The Israeli news site Ynet reported that Israeli soldiers were carrying out a “routine check” when they fatally shot Al-Hirbawi, who was allegedly armed only with a knife.
Israeli forces have been routinely criticized for their excessive use of force and for adopting the policy known as ‘shoot-to-kill’ against the Palestinian civilians.
