Days of Palestine, London –About 6,000 Palestinian refugee families in Damascus countryside appealed for UN, other related organisations for urgent humanitarian aid.
The families were displaced from Al-Yarmouk Refugee Camp and now they are living in Qudsia Neighbour hood in the countryside of Damascus.
According to a statement issued by the Task Group for the Palestinians in Syria, the 6,000 families have been under a strict siege imposed by the forces of regime leader Bashar al-Assad since 21 July 2015.
The Task Group said that both the Palestinian and the Syrian families in Qudsia are suffering a “real tragedy” due to the siege imposed by the Assad regime.
“The siege causes negative effects on all sides of life, including the healthcare system,” the statement explained.
The statement also noted that unemployment among the families in Qudsia is 96 per cent and they have almost no bread, lack heating equipment and several basic medicines.
