The shooting occurred at the Kehilat Yaakov synagogue on Shimon Agassi Street.
Police spokeswoman Luba Samri described the assault, which was carried out by Palestinians from Jerusalem, as a terrorist attack.
Samri said the attackers were Palestinians from the east side of the occupied Palestinian city Jerusalem.
In the east side of the city, the Israeli occupation has been carrying massive violations against Palestinians, including desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque, demolishing homes, using lethal force to disperse demonstrations and killing children and youths.
The latest violation was on Monday, when a 32 Palestinian driver found hanged to death inside his bus and witnesses, including colleagues, said at least six extremist settlers had hanged him.
Instead of pledging to probe the incident, the Israeli government incited violence by ignoring blame of settlers for the killing and closing Al-Aqsa Mosque for Palestinian worshipers in order to facilitate safe tours for extremist settlers inside it.
Israeli occupation arrested hundreds of Palestinians, demolished tens houses and confiscated thousands of dunams of Palestinian lands during the last two months.
Extremist settlers and occupation forces killed several Palestinians in the city of Jerusalem during the last two weeks.
