Days of Palestine, Gaza Strip –After the complete Israeli closure of the almost closed crossings with Gaza on Friday, the coastal enclave was turned off the map.

On last Friday, the Egyptian authorities order the immediate closure of the Rafah Crossing, the only non-Israeli window for the Gaza residents to the outside world. Egypt then decided to build a buffer zone along with Gaza borders.

This way, the Israeli-Egyptian siege, backed by the international community, became very strict and all materials have been slightly entering into Gaza have completely stopped.

On Saturday, for the first time, Al-Shifa Hospital, the main and largest hospital in Gaza, stopped catering meals for its patients because of the siege on food, industrial and medical materials and equipment.

Egypt closed the Rafah Crossing claiming that Hamas, the ruling party which got overwhelming majority in free elections in 2006, and other Islamists in Gaza had killed its soldiers. “The terrorists used tunnels to move from Gaza to Sinai,” an Egyptian official told Days of Palestine.

But this was a false claim, Palestinian interior ministry stressed. The ministry spokesman said that all the names that were announced by Egypt claiming they are Palestinians are either for dead people or unreal individuals.

The Israeli occupation claimed that five rockets were launched from Gaza and, therefore, it closed the crossings with Gaza.

However, Palestinian government in Gaza stressed that was just a claim in order to keep up with the Egyptian measures and tighten the siege on Gaza.

During the latest Israeli war, more than 20,000 homes need urgent reconstruction because tens of thousands of residents are still homeless. Despite this fact, the Israeli occupation has been insisting to delay the entrance of construction materials, citing security concerns.

The Arabs, world powers and international community have never took any step that could oblige the Israeli occupation to, at least, facilitate the siege regarding only the construction materials.
