Jewish settlers take over Pal houses in Jerusalem

Days of Palestine -

Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Israeli settlers took over on Monday two Palestinian buildings at Batn Al-Hawa area in the East Jerusalem town of Silwan.

Protected by large numbers of Israeli occupation soldiers, Israeli Jewish settlers broke into the twon of Silwan and occupied two buildings consisted of several apartments with an area of empty land.

Wadi Al-Hilweh Information Centre reported that armed settlers invaded the central area in the town at around 2am and took over buildings.

According to the centre, one of the buildings belongs to Salah al-Rajabi, while the other belongs to Imran al-Qawasmi, with five apartments in each.

The families sold their properties to a Palestinian man identified as Shamsuiddeen al-Qawasmi, a resident believed to be involved in diverting Palestinian property ownership to settler groups.

Four months ago the two families had to vacate their apartments, which are now fully seized by the settler groups.

Al-Qawasmi rented an apartment in one of the buildings. He helped transfer the building’s ownership to Elad right-wing settler group, an Israeli NGO that oversees the Ir David archaeological park, also in Silwan, and is dedicated to facilitating Jewish settlement in East Jerusalem.

The incident is similar to another that took place three weeks ago, when a group of Jewish settlers moved into several buildings in the same neighbourhood.

According to Israeli media sources, “the buildings were purchased by an American-based company, Kendall Finances, one of several groups seeking to expand the Jewish presence in East Jerusalem.
