Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Illegal Israeli settlers occupied on Tuesday morning 23 Palestinian houses in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
The houses are exactly located in the Palestinian neighbourhood of Silwan, south of the Old City of Jerusalem, Wadi Hilweh Information Centre said.
In a statement, the information centre said: “Settlers from the Elad (Ir David) Association, escorted by Israeli occupation soldiers, stormed Silwan at 1:30 am and forced the residents out of their apartments and occupied them.
The apartments belong to Baydoun, Al-Karaki, Abu-Sbeih, Al-Zawahra, Al-Abbasi, Al-Khayyat, Qarain and Al-Yamani families, the statement said.
“It was an unprecedented settlement attack,” the statement said. “Even if the houses have been bought sneakily, this is still an illegal seizure of Arab houses by the Elad settlement association.”
Ir David Foundation is an organisation that promotes a Jewish connection to parts of the Silwan neighbourhood in occupied East Jerusalem, including the ‘City of David’ archaeological site.
East Jerusalem is internationally recognised as Palestinian territory, but it has been under illegitimate Israeli occupied since 1967.
More than 500,000 illegal Israeli settlers live in illegal settlements across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.
