Israelis to ban Muslims’ prayers in Al-Khalil Mosque

Days of Palestine -

Days of Palestine, Reports –Israeli occupation authorities to close on Thursday and Friday Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Khalil for Muslims and open it for Israeli settlers.

Hijazi abu-Sneina, official in the Mosque, said the mosque would be open to the settlers to set up their Rosh Hashanah celebrations, while Adhan and prayers for Muslims, who own the mosque, would be banned.

Law experts said this Israeli measure is a “flagrant violation” of all international conventions and law, which guarantees the full respect of religious and cultural places.

The Ibrahimi Mosque is the place where the prophet Abraham was buried. It is located in the centre of Al-Khalil, which is a frequent site of tensions due to the presence of more than 500 illegal Israeli settlers in the Old City.

More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.
