Days of Palestine, West Bank–Thousands of Palestinian mourners turned out on Friday in the funeral of the Palestinian prisoner tortured to death inside an Israeli jail earlier this week.
Mourners crowded around the body of Raed al-Jaabari, which was wrapped in a Palestinian flag, shouting in grief during the funeral procession in his hometown of Al-Khalil, in the south of the occupied West Bank.
Results of a Palestinian forensic test announced on Thursday said that Al-Jaabari, 35, had died from a severe blow to the head, and blamed the Israeli occupation for his death.

“It is a crime, he was killed. The coroners confirmed it, he died from a violent blow to the head,” Former Palestinian Prisoners Minister Issa Qaraqe, who attended the funeral, said in his eulogy to Al-Jaabari.
The body of Al-Jaabari was taken by the Israeli occupation for autopsy in Tuesday, but the results were not disclosed for reasons, Palestinians say, that refutes Israeli claim.
The Israel Prisons Service has claimed that Jaabari hanged himself in a bathroom at Eshel prison in and died en-route to hospital.
IPS figures show that as of July 31 there are 5,383 Palestinians being held by the Israeli occupation for security offences, among them 446 without charge under so-called administrative detention orders.
