Days of Palestine – Nablus
The residents of Kafr Qaddoum village, east of Qalqilya, today, Friday, repelled an attack by Israeli settlers on the village and their attempt to steal olives.
The coordinator of the popular resistance in the village, Murad Shteiwi, stated that during the start of the weekly peaceful march towards the street that was closed for 18 years, settlers stole the fruits of the olive trees in the northeastern region near the settlement of “Qaddumim”, which was built on the village lands, forcing them to change their route towards the target area to protect it.
Shteiwi stated that dozens of villagers participated in the march, chanting slogans calling for resistance to settlements and an end to settlers’ attacks on trees and land.
Palestinian farmers complain of rising settler attacks, especially in the areas adjacent to Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
Israeli and Palestinian estimates indicate that there are about 650,000 settlers in West Bank settlements, including occupied Jerusalem, who live in 164 settlements and 116 outposts.
International law regards both the West Bank and East Jerusalem as occupied territories and considers all Jewish settlement-building activity there illegal.
