The Secretary-General, Hissein Brahim Taha, stressed that the OIC stands with the Palestinian people and unequivocally supports their legitimate rights in the city of Jerusalem and their sovereignty over it as the capital of the State of Palestine, appreciating the Jordanian efforts as the Custodian of the holy sites in the city of Jerusalem.
For his part, the Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Al-Safadi, briefed the Secretary-General on the efforts made by Jordan with the international actors to stop the Israeli violations against the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Safadi stressed the need to preserve the historical and legal status of the holy sites, the importance of the OIC role towards the occupied city of Jerusalem, and the need for diplomatic and political activity with the actors of the international community in putting pressure on Israel, the occupying power, to put an end to its attacks on the occupied city of Jerusalem and its holy sites.
