Norway condemned the decision by the Israeli government to simplify the process of approving the construction of new Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, June 19, 2023.
Foreign Affairs Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said that the recent Israeli policy would lead to blurring the administrative distinction between Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory.
“The increase in settlements is damaging for the possibility of resuming negotiations on a two-state solution and establishing a Palestinian state,” said Huitfeldt.
In addition, Huitfeldt strongly urged the Israeli occupation authorities to halt and reverse settlement activity on occupied Palestinian land.
She also condemned the recent Israeli attacks on civilians in the West Bank, saying it was heartbreaking when children were affected.
Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli settlers, supported by Israeli occupation forces IOF, started a campaign of violence, attacking dozens of Palestinian villages and towns in the occupied West Bank.
The settlers’ attacks included physical assaults, burning homes, vandalizing vehicles and properties, and burning agricultural fields, homes, and cars.
