DayofPal– Israel’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed that there are no immediate plans to send aid to the besieged northern Gaza Strip, citing a lack of directives from the political leadership.
In a statement to Middle East Eye, Israel’s Defence Ministry confirmed that no plans are currently in place to send aid to northern Gaza, despite recent reports of a proposal from a US logistics firm.
Moti Kahana, the CEO of Global Delivery Company, pitched a plan to set up an aid distribution hub in Beit Hanoun, describing it as a “war-zone Uber” for humanitarian supplies.
While Israeli military officials have expressed support for the idea, it has yet to receive the green light from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, even after discussions during a recent cabinet meeting.
Kahana said that Netanyahu is “playing politics” and expressed uncertainty over the government’s direction, especially following the dismissal of Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and the re-election of Donald Trump as US president.
The Defense Ministry’s statement arrives amid growing global outrage over Israel’s ongoing military atrocities in northern Gaza and the escalating humanitarian crisis gripping the region.
Furthermore, the announcement comes as Gaza’s civilians are facing relentless bombardments, compounded by a severe blockade that has left hundreds of thousands without food, water, or medical supplies. On Sunday, at least 36 civilians, including 15 children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in northern Gaza.
The independent Famine Review Committee (FRC) issued a stark warning on Friday, stating there is a “strong likelihood that famine is imminent” in northern Gaza, urging Israel to take immediate action to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.
UN agencies and international humanitarian organizations have also described conditions in northern Gaza as “apocalyptic,” with officials warning that the entire population is at imminent risk of dying from disease, starvation, and violence.
Human rights organizations have sharply criticized Israel’s actions in the north, saying that the Israeli army is carrying out a systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing, referred to as “the Generals’ Plan.”
This strategy is said to be focused on forcibly removing or exterminating the 400,000 remaining residents of northern Gaza, either through direct killing or by forcing them to flee to the southern part of the besieged region.
