Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (MOFAE) condemned the raising of the Israeli flag on top of the Palestinian Laban Highschool for girls in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus after illegally removing the Palestinian flag by Israeli occupation forces.
In a statement, the MOFAE stated that Israeli occupation deliberately targets Palestinian educational institutions, especially those that are located close to the illegal Israeli settlements, or the ones in Area C. These targeted institutions are in real danger of destruction and ethnic cleansing as in Masafer Yatta in Hebron and Jordan Valleys.
The Ministry stressed that the aggression on the school and removing the Palestinian flag is a result of the public incitement of the Israeli far-right leaders, like Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich against the Palestinians, and the protection they provide for the Israeli colonial settlers for their crimes against the Palestinians.
Moreover, it explained that such actions are within the framework of Judaizing the West Bank and the illumination of the Palestinian identity and existence in the West Bank.
The Ministry held the Israeli occupation responsible for the results of the aggressions against the Palestinian institutions.
The Ministry demanded the US administration, the international community, and the UN organizations, like UNESCO, to provide protection for the Palestinian educational institutions, staff, and students, and to guarantee the rights of freedom of travel and education for Palestinian children and their safety.
