DaysofPal- Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, revealed that the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip has hit devastating levels, stressing that the Israeli occupation considers itself above the law and disregards all international treaties and conventions.
Al-Daqran noted that the shocking statistics disclosed highlight the extent of the humanitarian tragedy: the number of medical staff martyred has risen to more than 1,600, while 246 journalists and 38 civil defense workers have also been killed, all of them were providing humanitarian services under exceptional circumstances.
He noted that the health infrastructure in Gaza has suffered destruction, with 22 hospitals forced out of service, leaving citizens without essential medical care amid worsening humanitarian and health conditions.
This includes the only central government hospital in Gaza governorate, which used to provide vital medical services for the injured and the sick.
Hospitals that remain in operation are being directly bombed despite being overcrowded with patients and the wounded, while suffering from severe shortages of medicine, medical supplies, and essential equipment.
Moreover, he added that the Israeli occupation continues to prevent the entry of medicines, water, treatments, medical supplies, and baby formula, pushing the healthcare system to the brink of complete collapse.
Statistics indicate that more than 600,000 children in Gaza have been deprived of basic vaccinations while suffering from malnutrition, famine, iron deficiency, and lack of basic life necessities, where the number of children killed has risen to more than 18,000, while over 11,000 women have been martyred.
Al-Daqran called for an international investigation into these documented Israeli crimes, noting that they cannot go unpunished as they are being committed before the eyes and ears of the world.
He considered that anyone capable of exerting pressure to stop these massacres but who remains silent is complicit with the occupation in its crimes.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation, backed by the U.S. administration, has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in 62,744 martyrs, 158,259 wounded Palestinians, most of them children and women, more than 9,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has killed 300 Palestinians, including 117 children.
