Mass Rally in Gaza in Solidarity with the “Madleen” Ship: A Salute from Gaza to the Heroes Defying the Siege

DaysofPal- In a moving scene that captured the spirit of resistance and hope, hundreds of Palestinian children, women, and civilians gathered on Monday near Gaza’s port in a massive public rally to show solidarity with the “Madleen” ship—part of an international effort to break Israel’s naval blockade on Gaza.

Participants waved Palestinian flags and held signs expressing gratitude to the ship’s crew, who had bravely defied Israeli restrictions to demonstrate their tangible support for the besieged population of Gaza—now enduring one of the most intense and prolonged blockades in recent history, exacerbated by the ongoing war.

A spokesperson for the rally addressed the crowd, stating that the “Madleen” represented a beacon of hope for the people of Gaza and rekindled the feeling that the world had not forgotten them.
“This ship is not merely a vessel—it is a living message from the free people of the world,” he said. “It proves that Gaza is not alone, and that its voice can pierce through walls of siege, oppression, and closure.”

He went on to condemn the Israeli occupation not only for its crimes against Palestinians, but for its aggression toward the international activists aboard the ship, including acts of intimidation, detention, and interception in international waters.

Rana Al-Zebda, one of the rally participants, said the gathering was a heartfelt expression of solidarity and loyalty to the heroes aboard the “Madleen.”

“Despite the shelling and threats, hundreds of children, women, and youth stood here today by Gaza’s coast to say: Thank you. You’ve engraved your names into the heart of Palestine and the soul of Gaza.”

The event witnessed broad participation from local factions, civil society groups, community leaders, and activists. All emphasized the importance of sustaining public support for international efforts aimed at breaking the humanitarian and naval blockade on Gaza. They called on the international community to urgently intervene to protect solidarity missions and pressure the Israeli occupation to allow humanitarian vessels to reach the besieged population.

The rally also featured patriotic songs and the distribution of handwritten letters by Gaza’s children addressed to the “Madleen” crew, expressing deep appreciation and recognition of their humanitarian efforts.

The “Madleen” set sail as part of an international campaign to break the maritime siege on Gaza. It carried peace activists from several countries and attempted to reach Gaza’s shores with aid and solidarity. The mission was ultimately blocked by the Israeli navy, which intercepted the vessel and prevented it from completing its humanitarian goal.
