DaysofPal — A France-based rights group has filed a legal complaint with the public prosecutor in Paris against several Israeli officials, accusing them of responsibility for legislation authorizing the death penalty for Palestinian detainees.
The complaint was submitted by Waves of Freedom, France, a member of the Global Freedom Flotilla coalition, as part of the broader international legal campaign.
Those named in the filing include Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, as well as lawmakers Limor Son Har-Melech, Zvika Fogel, and Nissim Vaturi.
According to Dr. Lina Al-Tabbal, a representative of the organization, the complaint relates to a law passed by the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, in March that permits imposing the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners.
Al-Tabbal said the move is part of a wider international legal effort, adding that similar complaints are being prepared in several European countries to pursue accountability through international legal mechanisms.
Ibrahim Marzouqi, a founding member of the organization, confirmed that the group is working to establish an international justice coalition aimed at legally pursuing Israeli officials.
He called on human rights organizations worldwide to join the initiative.
As part of these efforts, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Centre for Human Rights Research and Advocacy in Malaysia to strengthen international legal cooperation and enhance mechanisms for prosecuting serious violations under international law.
Azril Mohd Amin, founder and president of the Malaysian center, said the partnership would bolster joint legal efforts and expand tools for pursuing accountability globally. He noted that additional legal alliances are expected to join and file further criminal complaints.
The initiative has also drawn support from international advocacy groups. Activist Hanan Arouri announced that her organization, SANED, the Global Alliance to End the Occupation of Palestine, would join the coalition. Similarly, Omar Fares, representing a Palestinian social and cultural association in Poland, confirmed participation in the joint legal efforts.
Organizers emphasized that the international justice coalition remains open to human rights groups, legal associations, and advocates interested in contributing to ongoing legal action at the international level.
