The star of the Jordanian national taekwondo team for juniors, “Mayser Al-Dahamshe”, announced her withdrawal from the world championships in Bulgaria, refusing to face a player from Israel, today Sunday.
Al-Dahamshe decided not to face the Israeli player in the bronze medal match in refusal to recognize the occupation state.
Junior Abdullah Shaheen (33 kg) followed the same path, and withdrew in front of an Israeli player, in the World Taekwondo Championships, which ended today in the Bulgarian city of Sofia at the Arena Armic Hall.
The Jordanian National Team for Cubs and Flowers ended its participation in the World Championships, without achieving any results
The withdrawal of Al-Dahamsheh and Abdullah Shaheen came two months after the Jordanian national fencing player, Iyas Al-Zumar, withdrew against an Israeli player in a world championship for juniors held in Dubai, UAE.
BDS in sports has been seen as significantly important not only for the moral boost it provides the discriminated, displaced, and murdered Palestinians, but also helps out in spreading an international awareness of the atrocities practiced by the Israeli occupying force and shedding light on the Palestinian cause.
these efforts are a strong attempt against the flagrant attempts of normalization that have spiked significantly in the past couple of years, which in all fairness was truly political and not a reflection of the national voice.
