Palestinian schools in Jerusalem started on Monday, September 19, a comprehensive strike in protest of the Israeli occupation’s attempts to control and change the Palestinian curriculum.
The Palestinian National and Islamic Forces called earlier Sunday on Jerusalem schools to abide by the strike.
In a joint statement, the Palestinian Forces called on the international institutions to stand up to their responsibilities to protect students and educational institutions in occupied Jerusalem.
The statement reiterated the National Forces’ refusal of Israel’s attempts to change and distort the Palestinian curriculum, stressing that the Forces accept only the Palestinian curriculum.
Since 1967, the educational process in occupied Jerusalem has faced stifling restrictions imposed by the occupation authorities and systematic attempts to Judaize the curricula in an effort to impose new realities in favor of the Israeli occupation.
Up to 100,000 Palestinian students are facing the Israeli threat of using distorted schoolbooks in occupied Jerusalem.
