Last August, the Israeli occupation has approved nine new settlement plans in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
In a report monitoring the violations of the Israeli occupation, the governorate Jerusalem said that the most prominent projects approved the construction of new housing units, including the construction of 1,324 settlement units in the settlement of Gilo, which is built on the land of Jabal Abu Ghneim, south of the city of Jerusalem.
The new plan will be built on an area of 80 dunums, in addition to another project aimed at building 270 settlement units gradually parallel to the bridge at the top of the mountain opposite the village of Lifta al-Tahta, and another project that seeks to build 1,400 settlement units within a new plan east of Jerusalem.
The construction of these units will be in the settlement area of Tzur and Kibbutz Ramat Raheel, in addition to the construction of 700 settlement units in Givat Shaked, south of Jerusalem.
The new project is part of the Israeli ongoing policies to Judaize the city of Jerusalem and take full control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, by moving more than 25,000 settlers to the Old City by 2030.
The report said that the Israeli occupation continued the demolitions during August, including 35 demolitions, 11 of them are forced self-demolish, in addition to carrying out 6 land razing operations.
The Israeli occupation handed over demolition notices and review notices to the occupation municipality in several neighborhoods and towns in Jerusalem, where 5 demolition notices were delivered to houses in Issawiya, Silwan and Walaja, as well as disconnecting the towns of Makhmas and Dweir.
The report stated that 7,069 settlers, and 80,653 “tourist”, stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa mosque with the support of the heavily armed special occupation forces. The highest recorded on August 7, when 2,201 settlers stormed the mosque to commemorate the so-called “anniversary of the destruction of the Temple.”
