DaysofPal – Al-Awda Hospital announced on Monday that it had received 24 dead and 74 injured in the past 24 hours following a new wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting refugee camps in central Gaza, in a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.
According to a medical source at the Baptist Hospital, two Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in the Al-Sha’af area of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
The source later confirmed that three others were also killed by Israeli fire while attempting to check on their destroyed homes in the same area, underscoring a growing pattern of attacks on civilians despite the truce.
Local sources reported additional artillery shelling east of Deir al-Balah, as Israeli forces continued to strike multiple areas in the central Gaza Strip.
The Gaza Civil Defense confirmed that Israeli occupation forces violated the ceasefire by bombarding several areas across the Gaza Strip, including Khan Yunis, Rafah, and the central region.
It added that rescue teams documented direct hits on schools sheltering displaced families, worsening an already catastrophic humanitarian situation.
“These deliberate attacks on civilian shelters represent a grave breach of the ceasefire and international humanitarian law,” a Civil Defense spokesperson said.
Medical authorities reported that 44 Palestinian civilians were killed across Gaza on Sunday alone as Israeli air raids hit multiple densely populated areas.
Among the victims, four bodies were transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital, 23 to Al-Awda, five to Nasser, and 12 to Al-Aqsa Hospital, according to medical sources.
The latest attacks bring the overall death toll in Gaza to 68,159, with 170,203 others wounded since the start of Israel’s military campaign on October 7, 2023.
