A group of Israeli settlers, protected by Israeli occupation forces, invaded on Monday, August 14, 2023, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque through the Moroccan Gate.
The Islamic Waqf department in occupied Jerusalem reported that dozens of settlers had invaded the mosque, conducting provocative tours within its courtyards. They also performed Talmudic rituals in the vicinity of the Bab al-Rahma area, located to the east of the mosque.
Israeli forces continue to impose restrictions on the entry of worshippers coming from Jerusalem and the occupied territories into the Al-Aqsa Mosque. They meticulously check their identities and detain some Palestinians at the outer gates. Others were kept at a distance from the mosque for varying periods.
In response, Palestinians intensified their calls to rally and maintain a steadfast presence within the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Their aim is to thwart the occupation’s and settlers’ Judaization plans, including the upcoming Jewish holidays. The Al-Aqsa Mosque faces daily violations and incursions by settlers, excluding Fridays and Saturdays. These incursions are carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, as part of a concerted effort to impose full control over the mosque and to temporally and spatially divide it.
