Hundreds of armed Israeli settlers attacked on Wednesday, 21 June 2023 the occupied West Bank town of Turmusaya, northeast of Ramallah, injuring at least 8 Palestinians with live ammunition.
Local Palestinian sources reported that some 400 Israeli settlers invaded Turmusaya town and attacked the Palestinian residents and their properties, causing damage to their belongings.
At least 12 Palestinians have been injured with live ammunition after being attacked by Israeli settlers in the Palestinian town of Turmusaya, according to Palestinian medical sources.
Palestinian media said some 30 homes and 60 cars were torched during the rampage by the Israeli settlers.
Israeli settlers physically assaulted Palestinians during the attack as well as set fire to homes and vehicles, sprayed pepper spray, and damaged cars, homes, and shops, sources added.
Earlier in March, Israeli settlers carried out one of the largest organized attacks on Palestinians in years. At least 400 settlers descended onto Huwara where they torched more than 30 Palestinian homes and 100 cars, killed 37-year-old Palestinian man Samih al-Aqtash, and injured hundreds of others, in what was described as a “pogrom”.
Days after the rampage, the far-right Israeli minister Smotrich backed the Israeli settlers’ terrorism against the Palestinian people across the occupied West Bank, asserting that settlers’ rampage on Hawara was not terrorism.
Smotrich added that the Palestinian village of Huwara should be “wiped out” days after colonial settlers went on a rampage in the occupied West Bank villages, killing one Palestinian father and burning dozens of houses and cars.
“I think the village of Huwara needs to be wiped out. I think the state of Israel should do it,” said Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, who also handles civil administration in the occupied West Bank.
Tensions have escalated between Palestinians and Israeli colonial settlers amid intensified Israeli deadly military raids in occupied Palestinian territories.
Palestinian officials said this was the deadliest start to a year there since 2000. More than 164 Palestinians have been killed since the start of 2023 across the occupied Palestinian lands.
