Israeli settlers launched an attack on the Wadi Al-Siqa Bedouin school near the village of Deir Dibwan, east of the city of Ramallah in the central West Bank the early hours of Sunday, August 13, 2023.
Local sources reported that settlers stormed the school, looted some of its belongings, vandalized its contents, and even destroyed the barbed wire meant to protect the school from external threats.
The Wadi Al-Siqa community consists of 30 Bedouin families, who often face assaults and provocations from settlers.
Israel has a history of recurrent attacks on Palestinian schools, including demolitions and various forms of obstruction that hinder the educational process.
In July 2023, Israeli occupation forces and settlers committed a total of 897 attacks against the Palestinian people, their properties, and their holy sites, according to figures by the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.
These attacks ranged from direct assaults on civilians to land destruction, village raids, tree uprooting, and property confiscation. The incidents underscore the ongoing tensions and challenges faced by the Palestinian population in the West Bank.
