DaysofPal – A surge in Israeli military operations and settler attacks across the occupied West Bank is forcing new waves of Palestinian displacement, shutting schools, and disrupting essential services for tens of thousands of people, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a humanitarian update released Friday.
According to a spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, intensified Israeli raids, particularly in the northern governorates, have severely impacted daily life in multiple communities, compounding an already volatile security and humanitarian situation.
Between 25 November and 1 December, Israeli forces killed four Palestinians, including a child, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank so far this year to 227. Nearly half of these fatalities occurred in the Jenin and Nablus governorates, which have faced some of the most extensive raids.
Large-scale operations in Jenin and Tubas last week alone affected more than 95,000 Palestinians, OCHA reported. In Tubas, sweeping incursions, curfews, and bulldozer operations left widespread destruction, damaging homes, roads, and water networks. The raids cut water access for nearly 17,000 residents, forcing some families to flee.
Schools in several areas were forced to close temporarily due to military activity and movement restrictions, interrupting education for thousands of children.
OCHA also documented persistently high levels of settler violence throughout the year. So far, 1,680 settler attacks have been recorded across more than 270 Palestinian communities, an average of five attacks per day.
The current olive harvest season has been marked by widespread aggression, including assaults on farmers, theft or destruction of olive trees, and damage to agricultural equipment and infrastructure.
This week, settler attacks, threats, and harassment were reported across several governorates, disproportionately affecting Palestinian communities located near old settlement blocs or newly established outposts.
Incidents included repeated assaults, raids, and damage to agricultural and water facilities, often targeting communities where families had previously been displaced due to settler violence.
UN officials warn that the situation in the West Bank is deteriorating rapidly, with combined military operations and settler attacks driving displacement and deepening vulnerabilities. OCHA stressed that essential services, water, education, and basic infrastructure face mounting interruptions as raids intensify and settlers expand their presence.
