The Israeli prison administration prevented Sunday, March 12, 2023 Hanan Al-Barghouthi, the sister of the Palestinian prisoner, Nael, from visiting him in “Nafha” Israeli prison, after keeping her for two and a half hours at the “Nielin” military checkpoint.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club stressed in a statement that the ban decision came under “security pretexts”, that the family has been denied visits for years, and today it is renewing its revenge policy against Palestinian prisoners and their families.
It’s noteworthy that after the death of Nael’s parents and brother, only his sister Hanan and his wife Aman Nafie, who is a freed prisoner, are allowed to visit him. Hanan was prevented from visit for a period of 6 years continuously, and since his last detention in 2014, she was able during these years to visit him only 8 times.
Note that 4,500 Palestinians are currently detained inside Israeli occupation prisons, including 400 who have severe and chronic illnesses, 31 women, and 500 administrative detainees.
In the absence of strong pressure to stop the systemic inhumane abuses, the racist and fascist policies of the Prison Service Administration have a negative impact on Palestinian detainees.
