DaysofPal- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) are reportedly preparing to approve a plan to expel Palestinian residents from the Bab al-Silsila neighborhood, adjacent to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem’s Old City, according to Hebrew media sources.
The plan, expected to be discussed and potentially ratified on Sunday, includes the confiscation of Palestinian homes and commercial properties in the area.
Israeli occupation seeks to enhance Jewish control and security, where sources indicate that the targeted neighborhood lies in a sensitive location near one of the main gates leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque, making the proposed measures particularly significant.
Palestinian observers and analysts have described the plan as a new escalation aimed at undermining the Palestinian presence in the vicinity of the holy site.
The development comes amid heightened tensions in Jerusalem, where Israeli measures in recent months have drawn repeated Palestinian warnings over attempts to alter the city’s demographic and historical character.
The reported decision also follows a day of confrontations involving Israeli settlers and security forces and Palestinian residents during the so-called “Flag March,” an annual event that has frequently sparked tensions in the city.
Palestinian officials have yet to issue a formal response to the reported plan, but previous statements have strongly condemned similar actions, warning of their potential to further inflame the already volatile situation in Jerusalem.
