DaysofPal- The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that dozens of Palestinians have been killed or injured in new massacres carried out by Israeli forces during their ongoing escalation against the Strip. In the past 48 hours, 36 Palestinians were killed, including 31 killed since early Saturday morning, alongside dozens of injuries.
Hospital sources in Gaza confirmed that 31 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire outside military zones in Gaza City and Khan Younis, in central and southern Gaza, since the early hours of Saturday.
Israeli forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement that went into effect on October 11. The escalation has included airstrikes, artillery shelling, drone attacks, and targeted shooting, alongside the demolition of civilian homes.
These attacks have killed and injured hundreds of Palestinians, adding to the hundreds of thousands of casualties, missing persons, and displaced people resulting from the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
On the humanitarian front, International Committee of the Red Cross President Mirjana Spoljaric emphasized yesterday the urgent need for the world to intensify efforts to relieve the suffering of Gaza’s residents and build on the momentum of the first phase of the ceasefire. In a statement, she said that many residents are still living among rubble without basic services, struggling to stay warm in the harsh winter conditions.
Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, stated that since the ceasefire was declared, over 500 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,400 injured. He noted that the near-daily shelling has placed the healthcare system under extreme pressure in severely dire conditions and that Israel has not honored any of its commitments.
Raed Al-Nems, spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent, said that ambulance teams are facing unprecedented challenges responding to ongoing shelling targeting residential buildings and displaced persons’ tents, while most medical facilities have been damaged during the war.
The United Nations emphasized the urgent need for the international community to pressure Israel to stop these violations and allow medical teams to operate without being targeted or obstructed.
