Israeli Occupation Shuts Hebron Ibrahimi Mosque to Muslim Worshippers for Jewish Holidays

Israeli occupation shut the flashpoint Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron and opened it for colonial settlers to mark the so-called Jewish holiday of ‘Sukkot’, on Monday, 2 October.

Israeli occupation banned Palestinian worshipers’ entry to the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron and allowed the colonial settlers breakings into the sacred mosque.

Israeli military closes the mosque for 10 days every year to Muslims citing the occasion of different Jewish holidays as a pretext.

In the same vein, Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem has been witnessing massive incursions by Israeli settlers following calls by extremist Jewish groups under the pretext of celebrating the Jewish ‘Sukkot’ which began on Sunday.

Temple Mount Groups mobilized their colonial settler to carry out large-scale incursions into the Al-Aqsa mosque citing the Jewish holiday season which began in mid-September as a pretext.

Israeli settlers performed provocative Talmudic rituals, read biblical passages aloud and collectively, and conducted evocative dances in Al-Aqsa Mosque yards.

It is worth noting that Israeli occupation divided the sacred Ibrahimi mosque between Muslim and Jewish worshippers after the 1994 massacre of 29 Palestinian worshippers inside the Mosque by a Jewish extremist settler, Baruch Goldstein.

In July 2017, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee included the Ibrahimi Mosque and the old city of Hebron on its World Heritage List.

Hebron is home to around 160,000 Palestinian Muslims and about 500 colonial settlers.

Muslims and holy places in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem have seen increased incursions by colonial settlers’ backed by the Israeli occupation forces in a flagrant violation of all international conventions and laws, guaranteeing Palestinian people’s right to worship in their holy places.
