The Israeli military court postponed on Sunday, September 10, 2023, the trial of the prominent leader of the Islamic Jihad movement, Maher Al-Akhars.

The “Muhjat al-Quds” foundation stated that the military court in Salem has rescheduled the trial of Al-Akhars,52, to September 14th of this year after charges were brought against him.

Al-Akhars, who has been on a hunger strike for 19 consecutive days, continues to protest against his arbitrary detention.

Last Wednesday, the Israeli occupation court extended the detention of Maher Al-Akhars until the following Tuesday.

The Israeli occupation re-arrested Al-Akhars on August 23, 2023, and he immediately initiated a hunger strike.

Maher Al-Akhars, a married man with six children, is a former prisoner who spent nearly 6 years in Israeli prisons.

In his previous detention, he undertook a 103-day hunger strike in protest against his arbitrary administrative detention, ultimately securing his release due to an Israeli decision.
