The Prisoners’ Institutions confirmed Monday, 23 May 2022, that in April 2022, Israeli occupying forces arrested 1,228 Palestinians from the Occupied Palestinian Lands, including 165 children and 11 women, the highest number of arrests since the beginning of this year.
The arrests were accompanied by grave violations against the detainees and their families and after they were transferred to the interrogation and detention centers.
The institutions affirmed that the occupation used the shooting of detainees, in addition to a policy of collective punishment that affected most of their families through acts of vandalism and destruction of homes, acts of terror, threats of arrest, and the use of canine and other methods.
This was included in the monthly bulletin of the institutions for prisoners and human rights; The Authority for Prisoners’ Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Club, the Addameer Institute for Prisoner Welfare and Human Rights, and the Wadi Hilweh Information Centre in Jerusalem, in which it confirmed that the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in occupation prisons amounted to 4,700 as at the end of April 2022, including 32 prisoners, 170 minors and more than 600 administrative detainees.
The highest rate of arrests during April in Jerusalem was (793), including (139) children and minors, while the number of administrative detention orders issued during the month reached; (154) orders, including (68) new orders, and (86) extension orders.
