Israeli occupation forces intensified the humanitarian crisis in Gaza with a brazen raid on Nasser Medical Hospital in Khan Younis on February 14th. The assault unfolded under the cover of darkness, thrusting the facility into chaos and fear.
Patients, medical staff, and displaced individuals were gripped by terror as occupation forces forcefully entered the complex, heightening the sense of danger. Reports emerged of Israeli soldiers apprehending youths, journalists, and doctors attempting to leave.
In addition, the occupation bulldozers rumbled into the hospital’s southern courtyard, conducting aggressive excavation operations, while the release of police dogs by soldiers added to the atmosphere of terror inside.
As events unfolded, it became clear that a significant number of doctors, patients, and wounded individuals were trapped inside the complex, their safety hanging precariously in the balance.
The UN World Health Organization (WHO) revealed damning statistics on Friday, highlighting the devastating impact of the ongoing Genocide in Gaza on healthcare facilities.
According to WHO spokesperson Mr. Jasarevic, more than 350 attacks have targeted healthcare in the enclave since hostilities erupted.
“These attacks have affected 98 healthcare facilities, including 27 hospitals damaged out of 36, and affected 90 ambulances, including 50 which sustained damage,” Mr. Jasarevic told journalists in Geneva.
The data underscores the grim reality facing hospitals, their staff, and civilians seeking shelter in Gaza, as they continue to bear the brunt of the unrelenting violence.
The raid on Nasser Hospital is just one in a series of attacks on healthcare facilities in Gaza, exacerbating an already dire situation. With hospitals and medical staff under threat, civilians face increased risks as the war escalates.
The ongoing war on Gaza has exacted a heavy toll, with the death toll surpassing 28,000 Palestinians and a quarter of Gaza’s residents facing starvation.
