Israeli Occupation Court in Salem Camp transferred the Palestinian prisoner, Mahdi Nour Amarneh, from the town of Ya`bad, west of occupied Jenin, to administrative detention for a period of 6 months.
The family of the Palestinian prisoner, Amarneh, stated that the occupation forces detained Amarneh during the recent aggression against Jenin and its camp, after raiding and searching his house and destroying its contents, as part of a detention campaign, and now he is in Megiddo prison.
Israel’s illegal policy of administrative detention is a pre-emptive measure that allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for lengthy periods of time based on disclosed allegations that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
Israeli occupation is currently holding more than 1,000 Palestinian detainees without charge or trial, the highest number since 2003, according to the Israeli human rights group HaMoked.
