DaysofPal- Israeli occupation authorities continued to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on the last Friday of Ramadan, preventing Muslim worshippers from entering the site to perform weekly prayers.
According to local reports, the closure has now entered its 14th consecutive day, with Israeli forces barring worshippers from accessing the mosque.
The Jerusalem Governorate warned of the dangerous escalation in incitement campaigns led by extremist groups often referred to as “Temple organizations,” which advocate increased Jewish presence and control over the compound.
Officials said the continued closure cannot be viewed as a temporary security measure, arguing instead that it reflects a broader political and ideological effort to alter the religious, historical, and legal status quo at the site.
Observers of Jerusalem affairs reported that the courtyards of the mosque appeared largely empty of worshippers, an unusual scene during the final days of Ramadan, which traditionally draw tens of thousands of Palestinian worshippers from Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank.
Jerusalem affairs researcher Fakhri Abu Diab said the mosque is effectively closed to the public, with access limited to guards, employees of the Islamic Waqf administration, and the mosque’s muezzin.
A small number of staff members who were already inside the compound were able to perform prayers, he added, while the broader Muslim public remained barred from entering the holy site.
