Israeli occupation authorities have enforced a 15-day house arrest and barred four Palestinians from entering Jerusalem’s Old City on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
The four teens were informed of the decision following their release from Israeli prisons. Additionally, they face five days of home confinement.
The released teens are identified as Anas, Zoz, Ahmad Qarout, and Mohammad Qarout, all from Jerusalem. Mustafa Sandouqa, another Jerusalemite teenager, was also released but is under a five-day house arrest.
Furthermore, the detention of Mustafa Abu Sanina has been extended until Monday.
In the month of August last year, Israeli authorities issued 21 house arrest orders for Palestinians from Jerusalem. Additionally, 23 Jerusalemites were prohibited from entering both the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City.
Ongoing Restrictions
These restrictions and attacks on Palestinians in Jerusalem are part of a broader pattern of Israeli policies aimed at exerting control over the holy city.
This includes measures such as home demolitions, settlement expansion, and restrictions on movement, all of which have contributed to the displacement of indigenous Palestinian residents.
These actions are seen by many as part of Israel’s long-term plan to change the demographic makeup of Jerusalem, pushing out its Palestinian inhabitants in favor of Jewish settlers.
