Israeli occupation forces assassinated two Palestinians and kidnapped some 401 others in Jerusalem during the month of May, according to Jerusalem-based Wadi Hilweh Information Center.
In its report, which monitors the violations of the occupation during May, the Center stated that on May 11, 2022, the occupation forces assassinated the journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, while she was covering the invasion of the Jenin refugee camp, when she was with a group of fellow journalists.
Also, it referred to the martyrdom of the young Jerusalemite Walid al-Sharif, as a result of wounds he sustained inside the Al-Aqsa courtyards during the third Friday of the month of Ramadan.
The occupation authorities continue to detain the bodies of seven Jerusalem martyrs in refrigerators: Misbah Abu Sobeih, Fadi al-Qanbar, Aziz Owaisat, Shaher Abu Khadija, Zuhdi al-Taweel, Fadi Abu Shkhaydam, and Karim Jamal al-Qawasmi.
Thousands of settlers, including Knesset members, senior rabbis, and those responsible for the alleged “Temple organizations and groups”, stormed Al-Aqsa through the Mughrabi Gate, and the incursions multiplied during the celebrations on “Independence Day”, “Quds Day” and the anniversary of the occupation of Jerusalem.
The center monitored 401 arrests from Jerusalem, including two children -less than 12 years old-, 58 minors, and 16 women.
It also monitored the issuance of 107 deportation orders by the occupation authorities, including 4 from Jerusalem, 65 from Al-Aqsa, and 38 from the Old City.
As for the demolitions, the Center documented 14 demolitions in the city of Jerusalem, half of which were self-demolished, in order to avoid paying fines to municipality staff and bulldozers.
