DayofPal—Israeli Settlement Affairs Minister Orit Strock has slammed US President Donald Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace,” calling it a “bad plan” and urging Israel to reoccupy the Gaza Strip.
Speaking to the settler radio station Galey Israel, Strock said Israeli soldiers should not be put at risk for what she described as a flawed initiative, warning she might leave the government if it moves forward.
Her comments came days after Trump formally launched the Board of Peace during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Strock questioned who would govern Gaza if Israeli forces re-invaded the enclave, arguing that handing control to the Palestinian Authority would repeat what she called the failure of Israel’s 2005 withdrawal.
She claimed Israel should remain the sole authority in Gaza after disarming the territory.
Her remarks also denounced the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which includes provisions for Gaza disarmament, further Israeli withdrawal and reconstruction.
Trump announced his so-called Board of Peace earlier this month as part of his broader Gaza plan. Although authorized by a UN Security Council resolution in late 2025, critics argue the body’s structure, granting Trump lifelong powers and veto authority, sidelines the UN.
The initiative comes amid continued Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip despite the ceasefire, following more than 15 months of war that has devastated Gaza Strip and killed over 70,000 Palestinians.
