Israeli Forces Storm Palestinian Detainees’ Cells at Nafah Jail

Af.M | DOP -

Israeli suppression units stormed on Sunday, 26 March 2023 the Israeli jail of ‘Nafah’, isolating a Palestinian detainee amid escalated tensions.

Palestinian prisoners Clud (PPC), stated that Israeli suppression units stormed section 3 in the Isralei jail of Nafah and forcibly transferred a Palestinian detainee to solitary confinement.

The club added that Israeli forces closed the section amid escalated tensions among the Palestinian detainees.

The Israeli occupation prisons intensified its attacks on Palestinian male and female prisoners inside Israeli Jails in light of the escalation of measures taken by the extremist Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, against Palestinian prisoners.

The Far-right Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir wasted no time delivering on his plans to create harsher conditions for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

On 6 January, one week after assuming the role, he visited Nafha prison, considered one of Israel’s most severe for Palestinians, tweeting afterward: “Those who murdered Jews would not receive better conditions than the existing ones”, before stating his aim to pass “the death penalty law for terrorists”.

Early in February, Ben-Gvir ordered the closure of Palestinian prisoner-run bakeries in the Israeli jails.

Human rights organizations have long condemned Israeli prisons holding Palestinian prisoners for their inhuman treatment of Palestinians.

Palestinian prisoners resort to hunger strikes to fight issues such as solitary confinement, denial of family visits, inadequate medical treatment, and other degrading conditions.

4,500 Palestinians are currently detained inside Israeli occupation prisons, including 400 who have severe and chronic illnesses, 31 women, and 500 administrative detainees.
