Israeli occupation forces cracked down early this morning, September 24th, 2023, on the campus of Birzeit University in the middle of the occupied West Bank, arresting a number of Palestinian students, and wreaking havoc on the University furniture.
A substantial military force affiliated with the Israeli army suddenly invaded the Birzeit University campus and led the way to arrest several activist students, among them was the Head of the Student Council, the coordinator, as well as the secretary of the Specializations Committee, the secretary of the Sports Committee, in addition to other three students.
According to local media, the students were handcuffed and blindfolded, then forced to sit on the ground before being taken to an unknown destination in a military vehicle.
Israeli forces also vandalized the students’ property and belongings, conducting a thorough manhunt inside the university campus.
In a statement, the university administration strongly condemned the invasion, the arrest of students, and the destruction of university property, considering it a blatant and significant violation of all international norms and agreements that criminalize the violation of the sanctity of educational institutions.
Students’ arrest is “A violation of all international standards that preserve students’ dignity and freedom,” the statement reads, stressing the University’s endeavours to ensure the well-being of the detained students.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrested tens of other Palestinians in overnight raids into several towns and villages across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.

Students’ arrest campaign coincided with a wide-scale general strike, which was staged in Tulkarm after Israeli occupation forces murdered two Palestinian youths during a deadly raid into Nour Shams refugee camp, east of the occupied West Bank.
