Israeli occupation forces arrested on Sunday, July 23, 2023, a Palestinian man from the Sub Laban family and evacuated the furniture from their home in Al-Khaldeya’s Cliff in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
This action came two weeks after Israeli settlers seized their home.
Since the early morning hours, the Israeli settlers had been removing furniture from the Sub Laban family home as part of their ongoing efforts to take over the home.
They also forced the homeowner, Nora Sub Laban, along with her children and several supporters, to leave the area in front of the family’s residence.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli forces arrested Ra’fat Sub Laban, a resident of the targeted house, during a gathering of dozens of protesters who were supporting the family.
Several years ago, the settlers had already seized the upper part of the building and another section of it, leaving the “Sub Laban” family’s home surrounded by settlements from all sides.
The family had rented the house in 1953 from the Jordanian government and was granted protected lease rights.
However, after the occupation of Jerusalem, it was placed under the administration of the so-called “Absentees’ Property Custodian,” claiming that the ownership belongs to Jews.
The family vehemently denied these claims.
