Despite the hunger strikes and calls for justice, the Israeli occupation continues to follow brutal measures against the Palestinian detainees in general and administrative detainees in particular.
Amina At-Tawil, spokeswoman of the Palestinian Center for Research, urged for an immediate intervention to support the prisoners since the conditions inside the prisons are unbearable.
According to At-Tawil, the detainees have been on hunger strikes to protest against the radical arrests of administrative detainees, whose rights are continuously violated; the renewal of detention periods; and other types of torture such as break-ins, beating, transfers and closure of divisions.
Only two days ago, Ben-Gvir demanded the ‘Israeli’ Cabinet to take more drastic measures against the Palestinian detainees; most of them being unlawfully detained.
He proposed depriving them their right to watch television, and to prevent detainees with similar affiliations from being in the same division.
Palestinian and rights organizations have called and urged for international support to the Palestinians and administrative detainees unlawfully detained in the Israeli occupation’s prison.
Concerns are growing over escalation should such maltreatment continue. At-Tawil said, “The conditions inside the prisons need our attention. We need to take the ongoing situation seriously as the prisoners are clearly targeted”.
Until now, around 5,000 Palestinian detainees remain imprisoned; 1,200 of them being held under administrative detention heading towards an uncertain future.
