DaysofPal- The United Nations has warned that Israeli forces have intensified their bombing campaign over Gaza, striking at a rate that averages one air strike every eight to nine minutes.
At a press conference, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric cited figures from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), stating: “Israeli forces have stepped up their operations over the past 24 hours, with devastating consequences for civilians. On average, this meant an air strike every eight or nine minutes.”
He added that in just one day, UN teams tracking population movements counted approximately 16,500 people displaced from northern Gaza to the south.
Dujarric said humanitarian workers remain positioned along major displacement routes to offer support. Their tasks include providing psychosocial first aid, referring people to specialized services when needed, and educating new arrivals on the dangers of unexploded ordnance. However, he warned that the challenges are mounting rapidly.
He also noted that only 7 out of 15 requested humanitarian movements coordinated with Israeli authorities were fully facilitated, underscoring ongoing restrictions on aid delivery.
