DaysofPal- For the past two weeks, Israel has largely blocked food aid from reaching northern Gaza, leaving around 400,000 Palestinians with a difficult choice, according to United Nations aid agencies.
People struggle to find food as the northern Gaza operation heightens the threat of famine. The Israeli military forces civilians to choose between starvation and displacement, as their homes and streets are continuously bombarded by bombs and shells.
Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud, reporting from Deir el-Balah, said that Palestinians are witnessing the deliberate starvation of an entire population.
“People are being actively blocked from accessing food, water and life-saving resources. Aid workers and NGOs on the ground are also being prevented from providing any assistance to those trapped in the north”, Mahmoud said.
The relentless bombardment has led to widespread devastation, leaving civilians trapped in small areas, unable to evacuate safely. Those who try to flee are chased and targeted by drones, making the situation in northern Gaza extremely dangerous and terrifying.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said the UN had “not been allowed to provide any assistance including food” to northern Gaza since September 30.
