A number of Palestinian prisoners’ rights group have been recently calling on Israeli occupation to release the Palestinian prisoner Walid Daqqa from prison, affirming that his health is deteriorating.
Daqqa is a Palestinian writer and activist, who has been imprisoned inside Israeli occupation prisons since 1986 and for 38 years now, currently suffers cancer in the spinal cord and currently stay in Barzlai Hospital, with a serious health condition.
Addameer, a rights group that supports Palestinian prisoners’ rights, stressed that the 60-year-old is in “dire need of urgent medical attention”.
The group accused Israeli authorities of denying the Palestinian prisoner Daqqa the treatment he was prescribed and called for his “immediate release”.
The Palestinian thinker Walid Daqqa, from the town of Baqa al-Gharbia in the lands of 1948, comes from a family consisting of three sisters and 6 brothers, noting that he lost his father during the years of his detention.
It is noteworthy that the occupation issued a life imprisonment sentence against him and determined it later on to be (37) years, and the occupation added two years more to his sentence in 2018, to become (39) years.
There are 4,780 Palestinians inside Israeli occupation prisons, including 400 who suffer severe and chronic illnesses, 31 women, and 500 administrative detainees.
